Rosemary hails from sun-drenched Mediterranean slopes, as its name Ros marinus - dew of the sea – suggests. Romans believed the nightly dew created its spicy scent. Today, this robust, aromatic shrub is cultivated worldwide. It can grow to a height of two meters and thrives in the sun.
How we Extract Rosemary Oil for our Room Fragrances
To obtain rosemary oil we steam-distil the needle-shaped leaves harvested as their flowers bloom – or just after. Producing 1 litre of oil requires 50 to 80 kilograms of rosemary. To ensure high-quality oil with potent aromatherapy benefits, we prioritise quick processing and short transport routes.

The Different Types of Rosemary
Rosemary, an evergreen shrub in the mint family, thriving in the Mediterranean. Its essential oils vary in species – or chemotypes (ct.) – their characteristics depending on location and sub-climate. Aromatherapy primarily uses three chemotypes with distinct ingredients and properties: We use Rosmarinus officinalis, ct. Cineole in our blends. Others include Rosmarinus officinalis, ct. Camphor (or Borneol), and Rosmarinus officinalis, ct. Verbenone.
Essential Rosemary Oil Boosts Concentration and Memory
Rosemary oil aids concentration. A British University of Northumbria study found that people exposed to rosemary scent showed up to 75 percent better memory performance than the control group.
Rosemary ct. Cineole: A Cold-Fighter
