The Origin of Lavender

Lavender thrives in sunlight and calcareous soil. Originally from the Mediterranean, it's now primarily cultivated in France, Bulgaria, and England. The ideal climate for natural, healthy growth is in highland areas (600 – 1500 m). The interplay of cold nights and hot days makes the plant particularly resilient, producing complex, high-quality ingredients.

Lavender is harvested.

How Lavender is Harvested

We harvest lavender at full bloom and process it immediately. Its pure natural essential oil is extracted via steam distillation to draw out valuable ingredients from the flower tips. Short transport routes and swift processing are crucial to guarantee high-quality lavender oil. Every drop is precious, as it takes about 100 to 150kg of lavender flowers to produce 1 litre of oil.

More about Lavender

Where's the Best Place to use a Lavender Scented Candle?

Our lavender scented candles are a wonderful addition to any living room or bedroom. Its essential scent can encourage relaxation in the bath, or just before bedtime. For best results, light the candle about 30 minutes before bathing. This allows a wax pool to form, releasing the full power of natural aromatherapy.

Varieties of Lavender

Nature boasts over 30 types of lavender, each enriching landscapes with unique diversity. In aromatherapy, besides the ‘true’ fine or extra lavender oil (Lavandula angustifolia) described here, there's lavandin oil, spike lavender oil, and topped lavender oil. While sharing much in common, these oils all have distinct properties.

Lavender's Cultural Significance

Ancient civilisations prized lavender flowers, using them as balancing bath additives. The name ‘lavender’ stems from the Latin lavare – to wash. This versatile plant has long been popular in natural medicine.

Ecological importance of Lavender Fields

Lavender fields play a crucial role in Earth's ecology. They attract bees and other pollinators, fostering biodiversity and supporting a vibrant ecosystem.
